Ten Lessons I've Learned from Ten Months of Mental Performance Training
(and how you can use them too)
Welcome to the 10th edition of Resilience Blueprint!
10.5 months ago, a change needed to be made. I was fatigued, anxious, irritable, and allowing myself to take on a “victim” mentality. Like they say, the hardest part of change is getting started.
But the question was, “where do I even begin?” Then came the research. Two things had to change immediately:
1) I needed to improve my sleep. The tossing and turning had to stop so that I could function the next day.
2) I had to make my physical fitness a priority again. I had to find that discomfort on a daily basis to realign my nervous system to handle real stressors, and not the ones that my mind came up with irrationally.
So, here I am 10 months later, writing my 10th newsletter, hoping that you can learn from my 180 and apply it to your own life/routine. If you know someone who would benefit from these lessons, share this newsletter with them!

Daily Practices for Mental and Physical Health
1. Routine Builds Stability
Having a daily routine creates consistency and focus. It helps me navigate busy days with calm and control. Structure brings clarity and direction to my life.
2. Exercise is Non-Negotiable
Exercise isn’t just for the body—it’s essential for the mind. On stressful days, a workout clears my head and resets my energy. It’s something I prioritize daily for balance and mental well-being.
3. Earlier Wake Schedule and Morning Sunlight
Waking up earlier has completely shifted my days. It gives me time for myself, mentally and physically. Those first moments of sunlight set a positive tone for everything that follows.

Mindfulness and Personal Growth
4. The Power of Prayer and Mindfulness
Incorporating prayer and mindfulness into my routine has been transformative. It keeps me grounded, focused, and in tune with what really matters. These moments of reflection guide my day.
5. Minimal Alcohol for Maximum Clarity
Cutting back on alcohol has improved my mental clarity. It helps me stay focused and sharp, making space for what truly nourishes me. The benefits have been undeniable.
6. Sleep is Sacred
Prioritizing sleep has been one of the most important changes I’ve made. It keeps me energized and ready for the day ahead. I’ve realized that good rest is essential for high performance.

Speaking of morning routine, let me tell you what I cannot live without- Lifeboost Coffee. The low acidity beans are non-negotiable for me as I usually have a cup before and after a workout. There are always tons of deals on their website, plus the beans and grounds stay fresh for months.

Mental Resilience and Leadership
7. Consistency Over Motivation
It’s not about waiting for motivation—it’s about showing up every day. Consistency leads to lasting growth, both mentally and physically. This lesson has been crucial for me and my athletes.
8. Breathing Techniques to Calm the Nervous System
When stress hits, I turn to my breath. Learning to control my breathing helps me calm down quickly. This practice has been invaluable for me and my athletes in pressure situations.
9. Vulnerability is Strength
Sharing my struggles and being open about tough days has been empowering. It’s shown me that vulnerability can be a strength. It helps me connect more deeply with the athletes I coach.
10. Leading by Example
The most effective way to inspire is by living what I teach. I can’t expect athletes to follow unless I’m living proof of the process. Being an example motivates them more than words ever could.clear my mind before stepping into my role as a dad. Once home, I switch fully into family mode—playing with the kids, preparing dinner, and handling household tasks.
These lessons have been life-changing, both for me and the athletes I coach. It’s a continuous journey, one that I’m proud to be on. I hope these insights resonate with you as they have with me.
