Welcome to the 19th edition of Resilience Blueprint!
December 5th holds a deep significance for me. First and foremost, it’s my mother’s birthday—a day I’ve celebrated my entire life. But over time, this date has taken on another layer of meaning. December 5th, 2023, marked the end of one of the most challenging chapters of my life and the beginning of a transformation that reshaped my mindset, habits, and well-being.
A year ago, I was in a constant state of anxiety—chest discomfort, jitteriness, and an overwhelming sense of unease were my daily companions. As a psychology teacher, I thought I knew better. My ego and professional knowledge kept me from admitting I was struggling. I told myself, “If I ask for help or talk to someone about it, I’m admitting something is wrong with me.” That internal dialogue prevented me from taking action for far too long.
Then came a turning point. I discovered mental performance coaching, and it opened my eyes to a completely new mindset. Slowly, I shed the victim mentality that had taken hold of me and embraced a fighter’s growth mindset. On my mother’s birthday, as we sat down for dinner, I noticed a profound change in myself. I had one drink (where there once would have been five), and the entire night, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I’d fuel my body for the run and workout planned for 5 a.m. the next morning. In that moment, I knew: I had changed.
What had shifted wasn’t just my thoughts but my actions. I had built a routine that reset my circadian rhythm, helping me sleep better, reduce anxiety, and start each day with purpose. The compounding effect of showing up for myself daily had restructured my nervous system and my mindset.
This newsletter will walk you through the process I used to get to this point and share where I stand one year later. It’s a journey of reflection, growth, and the power of tracking your milestones to measure transformation.

2023-So many great memories, but so many moments of hurt and struggle
The Transformation
As the year comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the milestones achieved, lessons learned, and the gratitude that fuels our growth. This year, I logged 348 days of 5 a.m. workouts, a testament to discipline and commitment.
I optimized my sleep through magnesium glycinate, AG1, and consistent mindfulness practices, which helped me overcome restless nights. Perhaps most importantly, I stayed active during football season, maintaining my physical fitness year-round—a first for me.
Every day presents its own challenges, but gratitude turns good days into great ones. I’ve learned the importance of resting, analyzing setbacks, and crafting strategies for improvement.
Adaptability, both mental and physical, has been a game-changer in overcoming adversity. My journey wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance and inspiration from Ed Mylett, Brian Cain, Eric Hinman, and Andrew Huberman.
Their lessons, combined with a commitment to a growth mindset, shaped my transformation. I’m also deeply grateful for my family, friends, colleagues, and athletes, who inspire me to be a better leader every day.
Power of Purpose
Purpose has been the cornerstone of my transformation this year. My purpose as a leader—for my family and my team—drives everything I do.
Whether it’s cold plunging at 5 a.m. or mentoring young athletes, my actions align with the core values of resilience, discipline, and service. After others helped me through tough times, I knew it was my turn to give back.
Teaching resilience isn’t about quick fixes; it’s about compounding daily effort. December 5th marked a turning point when I began living intentionally, building momentum one day at a time.
Purpose transformed my mindset, enabling me to bounce back from setbacks and achieve milestones like launching my LLC, running longer distances, and creating systems to handle adversity with grace.
Finding Holistic Growth
This year, I’ve made significant progress in mindfulness and mental health. I’ve learned to reframe stress, foster gratitude, and overcome negativity.
Rainy games, sleepless nights, and fatigue no longer derail me—they are opportunities to grow stronger. On the physical front, I’ve surpassed fitness levels from my 20s and completed running distances I hadn’t attempted in eight years, proving that consistency yields results.
My faith has also provided balance and clarity. Focusing on what I can control, staying grounded in scripture, and prioritizing my family’s spiritual growth are at the heart of my journey.
Sharing the Journey
This year wasn’t just about personal growth—it was about empowering others. I’ve had the privilege of coaching athletes and colleagues, sharing tools for resilience and mental performance.
Vulnerability has fostered deeper relationships, and shared goals have created a powerful sense of community. If you’re looking for a sign to embrace transformation, this is it.
If I can overcome anxiety and stay consistent for a year, so can you.
Looking Ahead and Embracing Growth
The journey of growth is just beginning. I aim to continue my education as a mental performance coach (CMPC) and develop my skills to better serve my clients and community.
On the home front, I’m creating a space for growth and recovery, a sober haven for friends and family. In 2024, I’ll launch Grant Chiasson Mental Performance (GCMP), LLC, offering services locally and virtually. I’m also collaborating on wellness retreats and supporting young athletes through innovative ventures.
Transformation is possible for anyone. It’s about showing up daily, learning from challenges, and staying committed to growth. Let’s embrace the new year with gratitude and purpose.
